NOD Apiary Products Ltd. was started by beekeepers to serve the beekeeping industry in 1997. We make an organic pesticide called Mite-Away II. This pesticide treats varroa and tracheal mites, which are a big problem for beekeepers all around the world.
This product is now sold both in Canada and the US and is fully registered by Health Canada and the Environmental Protection Agency.
The active ingredient is formic acid, an organic acid that is found naturally in the environment and also is a natural component of honey. This product could eventually become an approved organic treatment product for those beekeepers who are certified as organic honey producers.
Formic acid leaves no residues in the honey or wax.
NOD also makes a winter hive wrap called a Bee Cozy which is constructed of fibreglass insulation and UV protected polytubing.
As you can see, as a company, we like to protect the bees! Our motto is "We're In The Bee Protection Business!"
Did you know that one-third of all the food you eat is pollinated by bees? There are several nasty pests out there threatening the beekeeping industry, and NOD wants to be a part of keeping the industry strong.
